What I've Been Up to In June 2023
This will be a shorter issue - my family and I just returned from a ~two weeks trip from Orlando Florida, now we are struggling to recover from COVID we picked up from the Disney World (as a souvenir! ha!) I may hopefully share more about this in next month’s issue.
Here are the things that kept me busy this past month, aside from the day-to-day ‘job’ related stuff…
Creating and hacking stuffs
Game Dev
Qin - an action game based on the story of China’s first emperor. It is the bugfix season on this, slowly but surely I fixed some pesky UI bugs and hope to get to the M3 (Milestone 3) release soon.
Drawing
Weekly project drawing (comics) - here is a taste of the comics I’ve done this month - full versions are on most of my social feeds, Artstation, and of course, my (paid) Patreon page.
Study drawings
#FanArt
Writing
This month I’ve only done a bit of the writing related tasks - editing my book#2 project, “100 Drawings of Tang Dynasty Poems” (唐詩一百畫); ‘Impressions’ stories.
The Web
My Patreon members continue to get all the full resolution arts and pre-released writing pieces every week! I am also looking forward to providing soft copies of my books and games to my patrons later this year.
Website and Merch Store - no updates, but check them out!
Hacking - hacker in me is on sabbatical this month :D took a Docker course instead!
Consuming Stuffs
Reading - Continue to read “The Dead Are Arising - The Life of Malcolm X”
Gaming - Continue to play Shadow of Tomb Raider, Chinese classic RPG: 軒轅劍 楓之舞, and again, TON of this mobile game Mighty Doom
TV/Movies - Wild (love it). Lord of the Ring - FOTR Extended edition (I’ve always wanted to re-watched this and this indeed is a worthy classic); Ranfield (meh); 'Across the Spider-verse' (watched this at theater, but I don’t know, I feel like it’s doing too much and too busy. I still prefer the first one with a leaner script focusing on Miles’ development)
Learning - finished Udemy course on Rust + Webassembly (skimmed through)
That’s it for this issue of my newsletter! If you really finished reading the above, I thank you, and wish that my sharing would either entertain you, or inspire you (if you’ve been thinking about your own creative projects).
